Organizers of Hainan Rendez-Vous, China’s leading yacht and business jet show, announce April 5th-8th 2012 as the dates for the next edition and share some exciting new developments.
Shanghai, November 23, 2011 – Following the success of the two previous editions and only two years after the Beijing government announced its intention to transform Hainan into a global luxury destination, the Hainan Rendez-Vous (HRV), China’s leading superyacht and business jet show, is propelling Hainan to the very center of the international lifestyle scene.
Organizers are confident that the show is becoming a landmark event for China’s affluent and influential decision makers, providing them with a platform for top level communication and collaboration. Over 15,000 visitors attended the event last year, which was heavily covered in both domestic and international media.
The show’s fantastic turnout is due in part to the fact that Hainan is becoming a key yachting hub for China. Foreign registered yachts are now able to stay in Hainan for 183 days, and can go through entry and exit procedures at more ports on the island. Marinas are mushrooming up along the coast, many with state of the art facilities, and staging global events such as the Volvo Ocean race.
Hainan’s marine infrastructure is also attracting the attention of the world’s superyacht manufacturers. “Hainan Rendez-Vous, an event projected in the future, managed with competence and passion. I enjoyed every minute there, seeing the foundation of yachting in China. Thanks and congratulations to the organisers.” says Paolo Vitelli, Founder and CEO of Azimut Benetti Group.
“With Hainan’s growing investment in boating infrastructure, the region’s significance within the industry will only increase,” says HRV founder and CEO Delphine Lignieres. “As a platform for bringing together companies and clients interested in the superyacht and megayacht categories, the HRV has no parallel in this part of the world.”
Beyond yachting, HRV is also the largest business jet event in Asia, and with China fast becoming the most dynamic jet market worldwide, organizers are expecting even more jets next year.
HRV is a very unique concept that goes way beyond the traditional trade fair organized in China. The event is above all a networking platform where high net worth individuals can not only discover the most advanced yachts, jets and supercars, but can also enjoy a true Riviera moment with a wide range of parties, events and exclusive gala dinners thrown by the event sponsors and participants.
The organizers have been overwhelmed by the level of interest they have received from all over the world, and HRV will play an increasingly important role in bringing together decision makers from west and east to exchange ideas on topics such as the future of mobility, innovation and design.
Organizers also intend to elevate the Art in Hainan component of HRV to a whole new level at next year’s edition. With its tranquil, transparent waters and azure skies, Hainan is a great source of inspiration for artists from China and abroad.
As the single event that unites the world’s top yacht brands, business jet brands and ultra-lifestyle brands with their potential buyers throughout the whole of China, HRV 2012 is where professionals in the upscale lifestyle world have to be next April 5-8.
So step aside Ibiza, move over Antigua and watch out Phuket – the Hainan Rendez-Vous is heading for center stage.

The China Cup International Regatta, China’s most prestigious sailing event now in it’s 5th year took place from 28th to 31st October and included the presence of China Team, the official Chinese challenger for the 34th America’s Cup.
The regatta starts with a passage race between Hong Kong and Shenzhen and continues with racing in Daya Bay of Southern China.
Attracting more than 80 teams with 600 sailors of 25 plus nationalities the regatta affirms China’s growing love affair with yachting and the beginning of the formation of a Chinese yachting “Riviera” stretching from Xiamen to Sanya and beyond.
Simpson Marine, one of the Regattas official sponsors, took second place overall in the 40.7 class. The Simpson Marine team included Tiger Mok as navigator, one of China’s most talented sailors. The fleet of Beneteau First 40.7’s (One Design Class) demonstrates the leading French boat builder’s commitment to promoting yachting in China.
Racing also included the IRC A/ IRC B Divisions, the HKPN Division and the OPEN Division.
The regatta, which provides a competitive arena for Chinese yachtsmen to experience the excitement of racing, did not disappoint. The best local Chinese team was Sea Wolf led by Wang Shao Jun who finished 5th overall, a huge improvement versus its 18th place in 2010, a testament to his dedication and investment in time practicing.
In the J80 Class with 11 teams competing, Hainan Freedom Community came first and highlighted the surge of up and coming Chinese sailors. Sailing guru and dignitary Frank Pong had two teams competing in that category with young Chinese sailors onboard both sailing boats.
In addition to the racing and the almost legendary celebrity treatment of the teams, the regatta is known for other events such as the Asian Sailing Forum and the Celebrity Golf Tournament.

Serenity Coast Marina
Simpson Marine is rapidly strengthening its presence in South China. The opening of a flagship office at the Serenity Coast Marina in Sanya (Hainan) will complement Simpson's offices in Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
Mike Simpson commented "We are the only dealer with a coherent approach to the luxury yacht market in China - and the wider region - to cater to the growing number of high net worth individuals. Simpson Marine is ready to serve the fast expanding Chinese market, and specifically its southern part, which is transforming itself into the yachting hub of China. Azimut, Beneteau and Lagoon are regarded as leaders in their field and we want our yacht owners to get the best service and support. This is our strong commitment to China's vibrant yachting scene".
On top of the existing 8 marinas in operation, over 12 new marina projects have been identified on the southern coast of China and Hainan. The idea of a Chinese Riviera stretching from Xiamen to Sanya has never been so relevant.
As a measure of its commitment to its Chinese clientele Simpson Marine will participate at SIBEX this month, the leading yacht show in Guangdong province, and will display on water the latest range of Azimut yachts, Beneteau and Lagoon sailing boats. Simpson Marine will also be one of the China Cup's main sponsors, China's leading regatta and a great showcase for Beneteau's sailing boats.
In a strong push to the south, Simpson Marine will further strengthen its presence in Hainan with participation at the Hainan International Boat Show (December 2011) and a strong display of yachts highlighting the company's leading position on the island at the prestigious and highly acclaimed Hainan Rendez-Vous to be held in April 2012.
Simpson Marine fields a powerful team of experienced yacht brokers as well as highly qualified maintenance technicians and managers. The company is viewed on the China yachting scene as a benchmark for service organisation and after sale support.
