Simpson Marine Supports SPLASH with Safety Boats, Team and Logistics at Make Waves for HK 2024

On the 8th of November, Simpson Marine proudly supported the Make Waves Fundraising event organised by Splash Foundation, where 30 determined swimmers completed a 45km swim around Hong Kong Island. This remarkable event, blessed with perfect weather and a spirit of camaraderie, raised an impressive HK$3.5 million from over 1,100 generous donors, which will enable Splash Foundation to teach over 1,700 kids and adults to swim, and continue enhancing swim literacy in disadvantaged communities.

Recent statistics show that nearly half of the people in Hong Kong do not know how to swim, highlighting the urgent need for swimming education. By supporting the Splash Foundation, we are helping to provide essential swimming lessons and water safety education to those who need it most.

Simpson Marine’s Continues Support with Safety Boats and Manpower

Simpson Marine, as a long-term partner and supporter of the Splash Foundation, provided four safety boats, a dedicated team to support overnight duties, and seamless logistical support to ensure swimmers’ safety in the water and the the event’s overall success. We are honoured to contribute to this meaningful cause, reflecting our ongoing commitment to the community and the transformative power of swimming.

Inspirational Moments

A standout moment was witnessing Josephine Tolentino, a beneficiary of Splash’s learn-to-swim programme, triumphantly finish for her team. Jo’s journey from learning to swim just eight years ago to completing this challenge is a testament to the life-changing impact of swimming education.

We also want to highlight the incredible efforts of our colleague, Marko Stojanović, and Team Blue. Their dedication and teamwork were truly inspiring, showcasing the spirit of perseverance and unity that defines Make Waves. Team Blue completed the relay swim in 12 hours, 4 minutes, and 51 seconds, and raised over HK$986,000.

Continuing the Mission

Supporting Make Waves allows the Splash Foundation to continue its mission of enhancing swim literacy and providing access to swimming for disadvantaged communities. Your donations create opportunities for children and adults to achieve the unimaginable, both in and out of the water.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to fellow sponsors, support crew, kayakers, and volunteers whose enthusiasm and support were integral to the event’s success. Most importantly, we congratulate the swimmers for their dedication and outreach efforts, which have enabled over 1,700 individuals to learn to swim and have inspired many more people in the city to contribute to meaningful changes in Hong Kong through Make Waves 2024.
