Q: What keeps you motivated and driven?
A: Doing what I love. I have a lifelong love for the sea and I’m in my element near water.

Q: Who has been the biggest influence on you in your work and/or personal life?
A: Several people I met during my nine years in Thailand have been a big influence on what I do today. I keep in touch with a lot of them and I can – and do – turn to them if I need help.

Q: What are some values you live by?
A: Family is important, kindness always goes a long way, honesty and integrity are vital qualities, and financial freedom doesn’t hurt either.

Q: What do you hope to achieve in your work?
A: To give clients the best possible experience: offering service from the heart.

Q: What one piece of advice would you give to aspiring women who are keen to join this industry?
A: Be prepared to work hard, be adaptable and fit in with men’s way of working and playing, and understand the essentials of yachting such as a love of water.

Q: How did you get involved in the yachting industry?
A: When I lived in Thailand, I met many fellow Indonesians who were experienced seamen and/or dive enthusiasts. They introduced me to yachting and made me excited to become a diver. Now I explore the water around my hometown – Manado, in North Sulawesi, whenever I have the chance.

Q: What is one change you would like to see in this industry?
A: More infrastructure in Indonesia. I’d also like to see a more mature market.

Q: What would you say is your biggest achievement in your career with Simpson Marine so far?
A: I’ve been with Simpson Marine since June 2012. I’m proud to work in a solid team I consider family

Q: What inspires you within what is undoubtedly a male-dominated industry?
A: Coming from the small coastal town of Sulawesi, I am trying to drive change for Indonesian women, who are typecast in so many ways. Proving I can be part of a male-dominated industry is an achievement.

Q: What was your first memory of yachting?
A: Being on a 60-foot sailing yacht called Crescent, in the Lembeh Strait in 2001. Crescent was a live-aboard diving vessel that travelled to Indonesia during low season in Phuket where she was based.

Q: What is a must-do on a yacht for you?
A: Cooking. I love doing this, though I still need practice. Once I successfully cooked an Italian dinner on an 80-foot yacht. For me, great food, drinks and socialising with friends are must-dos on a yacht.

Q: Describe your perfect day on a yacht.
A: Perfect weather, mooring at a secluded, white sandy beach, for a picnic. Music, a delicious meal, and plenty of drinks with friends and family. An evening on a yacht with her lit up like Christmas is also perfect.
