Beneteau Four Peaks Race gathers 26 yachts and over 200 crew

Coinciding with Simpson Marine’s 35 anniversary, the 35^th edition of the Beneteau Four Peaks Race held in Hong Kong on 26-27 January was one of the best editions of the race to date. The weather was clement with sunny skies and great windy breezes and the fleet was an impressive size with 26 yachts manned by 216 crew composed of sailors and runners.

Despite being one of the toughest regattas in Hong Kong, requiring many tactics, planning and practising, and usually happening in harsh weather conditions of the January Hong Kong winter, the race is known and loved by all sailing community in Hong Kong and is slowly growing in popularity among international audiences.

As always, we had a wide range of participants, with the youngest just 15 years old, the most experienced at 73 years old, and a total of 21 women. It shows that you can be in shape and ready to challenge at any age or disposition!

We were delighted to see a growing number of local Hong Kong local sailors taking part, as this is exactly in line with Simpson Marine’s mission of growing local Asian sailing culture – something we have been very passionate about for the past 35 years since Simpson Marine was established in 1984.

During the prize giving ceremony at Aberdeen Boat Club on 1 February, we also had the pleasure of present the new Oceanis 51.1, which has just arrived in Hong Kong and was very much enjoyed by all the sailor fellows from the Race.
