Sanlorenzo Asia and Amanda Wei Gallery Collaborate on Zhou Chunya Art Talk in Hong Kong

Sanlorenzo Asia, represented by Simpson Marine, was delighted to partner with Amanda Wei Gallery for a very special art event, ART TALK WITH ZHOU CHUNYA, on 19 December in Hong Kong’s Landmark Mandarin Oriental. The event celebrated the first solo exhibition of the artist Zhou Chunya in Hong Kong, launching officially on 20 December and running through to 15 February 2019 at Amanda Wei Gallery. On display were a series of paintings and bronze sculptures with a “Peach Blossoms” theme.

It was an honour for Sanlorenzo, a renowned Italian shipyard with 60-years of shipbuilding history, to co-host together with Amanda Wei, a Sanlorenzo yacht owner, founder of the Amanda Wei Gallery, and a passionate art promotor in Asia. The event was very strongly linked to the shipyard’s connection with the art world and was perfectly aligned with Sanlorenzo’s dedication to the pursuit of artistic and design-inspired collaborations that express the beauty of their yacht creations.

Over the past decade Sanlorenzo has been intrinsically linked to the world of art and this approach translates not only into each yacht being fitted with fine art from the owners’ personal art collections on board, but also through prestigious collaborations with the world’s most renowned art fairs such as Venice Biennale and Milan Triennial. Most recently Sanlorenzo has entered into a global partnership with Art Basel, where Sanlorenzo hosts its own Collector’s Lounge in homage of a selected artist under the creative guidance of Piero Lissoni, Sanlorenzo’s Art Director. This year’s both Art Basel in Basel and Miami both included Sanlorenzo lounges and received a lot of interest from the visitors.

It was a pleasure to take this opportunity to announce for the first time that the 2019 Art Basel Hong Kong in March will host a Sanlorenzo Collectors Lounge, celebrating Asian Artists curated by Amanda Wei Gallery and in special collaboration with the gallery founder. The concept is now being developed between Sanlorenzo and the artist.

Art Basel Hong Kong is announced for 29 – 31 March 2019 and the Sanlorenzo management team, together with Art Director Piero Lissoni, are expected to attend the event.
