Construction on Sanlorenzo’s New 57Steel Well Advanced Ahead of 2022 Launch

World-leading shipyard Sanlorenzo is known for breaking down the established rules of the nautical world. Using their extensive experience, precision and skills they create yachts and superyachts that explore new concepts of liveability on board. This approach is clearly reflected in one of their newest superyachts under construction: the 57Steel.

The 57Steel is a superyacht that aims to become one of the new stars of the Sanlorenzo range. She is extremely forward-thinking thanks to the option for owners to equip her with a hybrid diesel/electric engine system. This provision confirms the company’s ability to look to the future by continuously investigating solutions that will reduce the impact of yachts on the marine ecosystem.

A sophisticated superyacht with elegance and simplicity of form – a characteristic common to all the Sanlorenzo ranges – she is distinguished by her straight bow, which gives her a striking look. The new 57Steel is an ambitious project, the result of intense study and collaborations carried out by the shipyard together with Studio Zuccon International Project. All this has led to the creation of this impressive 56.70 metre yacht with five decks and a tonnage of 1000 GT.

Extraordinary volumes, double that of the successful 52Steel, have made it possible to offer indoor and outdoor spaces that are decidedly out of the ordinary for a model of this size and with unprecedented functional content.

The main design challenge for the 57Steel was to find the perfect balance between volumes and proportions, which are a strong feature of this model. This was achieved by creating an innovative layout that alters the traditional balance on board. The wheelhouse area, normally forward of the upper deck, has been relocated to an additional deck – a real bridge deck, as on larger yachts – thus making it possible to use the upper deck in a different way.

This upper deck is where the owner’s cabin – a 54-square-metre space – is located, overlooking the very large Owners Deck, which is a private deck from which to enjoy an exclusive view over the sea. The new layout has also made it possible to create a spacious full-beam VIP cabin forward of the main deck that can be used as a second owner’s cabin.

“The versatility of use that distinguishes the spaces on board is a key element of the 57Steel, which makes it possible to satisfy the many requests of a diverse and multicultural market like that of superyachts,” says Bernardo Zuccon. “This is a model in which there is no ostentation of the brand and whose external lines are defined and extremely fluid, transparent and clear, in which the language of the shipyard shines through. We can define the 57 Steel as a skilful balancing act between content and container.”

An evolution of the 52Steel, the new 57Steel model incorporates many of the winning features of her smaller sister, in particular the design of the stern area where on the main deck the swimming pool, with its transparent floor, allows the passage of light into the deck below. Below lies an extraordinary beach area of 110 square metres, created by the opening of side decks on three sides. These each become small beaches on the water’s edge, creating mesmerising chromatic effects. Another of the innovative elements of the 57Steel has been the decision to place the garage at the bow, which has made it possible to create a large space equipped to accommodate tenders of up to 7.5m and numerous toys.

Thanks to a strategic division of space, the overall layout allows for up to seven guest cabins and a deck, located below the lower deck, totally dedicated to services such as laundry, wardrobe and cold storage.

This new Sanlorenzo superyacht is expected to launch in Summery 2022.
