Beneteau Oceanis 30.1 wins the European Yacht of The Year in FAMILY CRUISER category

Each year, the European Yacht of the Year Awards recognise the best sailboats on the European market.  These awards are followed by a wide audience of several million people who are passionate about sailing.

The European Yacht of the Year Award is unique in the diverse experiences of its jury, composed of 12 experts from different magazines.  Following rigorous sea trials, they elect the most innovative and highest performing boat models of the year.  Winners are unveiled at a gala event on the evening of the opening of the Dusseldorf Boat Show, which took place before an audience of marine professionals on January 18th, 2020.

In October the 15 shortlisted yachts gathered together in one location for the first time – Port Ginesta, Barcelona – for six days of testing.

The five European Yacht of the Year 2020 winners were announced on the opening evening of the Dusseldorf Boatshow, on 18 January with Beneteau Oceanis 30.1 awarded in FAMILY CRUISER category.

Well done to Beneteau for addressing the entry-level market with a modern, easy-to-handle, spacious and affordable 30ft cruiser. Innovative technology and lean manufacturing helps keep the price low, a clever hull shape increases volume, the cockpit and rig design help make it easy to sail, while an options list that includes four different keels provides versatility and will attract sea and lake sailors alike. Tall headroom, saloon berths long enough to sleep on and an L-shape galley is all somehow fitted in below decks. This is an appealing, small family yacht on which to enjoy simple sailing and overnighting.
