The appearance of a huge amount of rubbish along Hong Kong’s shores and harbours alarmed both environmentalists and residents, with many raising awareness of the issue on social media and calling for the government to act.
“Save Aberdeen Harbour Alliance” took the lead and organized the first “FISH FOR TRASH” event at Aberdeen Harbour on 25 June. The event was a huge success with around nine ribs and tenders taking concerned citizens and volunteers around the harbour to clean up rubbish. This great community action brought larger attention to the giant waste problem that continues to grow and affect neighboring coastal communities.
We are of course fervent supporters of this action and delighted to have our team participating together with friends and families. The next event will take place on the 6 August. Willing to join? Let us know at [email protected].
