Nautor Swan’s MAXI Range: The Best Yachts for the Sailing Connoisseur

Nautor Swan’s Maxi range of sailing superyachts blends cutting-edge technology, superior craftsmanship, and a deep passion for the sea. From the Swan 88, the smallest Maxi, to the Swan 128 currently under construction, this range caters to sailors seeking performance and comfort. The Swan Maxi series includes the Swan 88, Swan 98, Swan 108, Swan 120, and Swan 128.

Swan 88

The Swan 88 encapsulates the innovative spirit of the Swan 108 in a more compact design. It is the first model in the series developed from the outset to offer a hybrid electric propulsion option, created in partnership with Torqeedo. Naval architecture is by Germán Frers, with interior design by Misa Poggi and exterior styling by Lucio Micheletti of Micheletti + Partners.

As on every Swan, the heart of the yacht is its deck, which on the Swan 88 can be separated into four defined areas, the first three located in the cockpit/aft while the fourth is found in the fore section. In the guest cockpit, Swan has introduced a newly evolved coachroof design on the 88 that takes inspiration from previous generations of maxi yachts, bringing together the practicality of an integrated sprayhood and bimini, with a very elegant line.

The cockpit’s modular benches can be arranged in a number of different configurations, such as lounging and full dining set-ups. The manoeuvering area with the yacht’s winches and steering pedestals is centrally positioned in this area, to allow space at the stern for a completely new beach area where guests can recline or lie down, with access to the water as well as the large tender garage. Forward of the mast, there is a fourth area which can be used for sunbathing or as a sunset lounge, with a large sail locker and anchor locker below the deck.

The Swan 88 exemplifies Nautor Swan’s dedication to high-performance sailing, delivering remarkable stability and responsiveness without compromising its luxurious finish. The modern deck layout combines efficiency and aesthetics, while the spacious, customisable interior makes it a dual-purpose yacht—equally suited to exhilarating racing or relaxed cruising.

Swan 98

The Swan 98 is a striking example of Nautor Swan’s mastery of combining high-performance sailing with luxurious living spaces. Designed by Germán Frers, its sleek exterior blends timeless elegance with technical innovation. The hull, made from high-tech composite materials, is both lightweight and efficient, ensuring stability and performance in all conditions.

Under sail, the Swan 98 excels with a well-balanced sail plan, advanced rigging system, and a twin rudder setup for enhanced control, even in adverse conditions. The carbon fibre rig optimises weight and performance, making the yacht responsive and agile whether cruising or racing.

Inside, the Swan 98 offers unmatched flexibility. Owners can customise the layout for extended cruising or entertaining, while the amidships owner’s suite provides a tranquil retreat with panoramic sea views. With configurations for luxury cruising or competitive racing, the Swan 98 caters to discerning sailors seeking a yacht that excels in both comfort and performance.

The yacht is designed for both luxury cruising and competitive racing, with racing mode configurations that allow owners to adjust the yacht’s layout for optimal performance. This versatility makes the Swan 98 ideal for those who want a yacht that delivers both world-class performance on the water and comfort at anchor.

Swan 108

As one of the most impressive models in the brand’s Maxi range, the Swan 108 blends top-tier sailing performance with expansive, refined living spaces that cater to those who demand both comfort and power. The Swan 108 features a sleek, low-slung profile with a contemporary and elegant deck layout, which enhances both its performance and aesthetic appeal. Designed by Germán Frers, this yacht embraces the latest design trends while staying true to the classic Swan lines. The hull is constructed from lightweight composite materials, with carbon fibre reinforcements that ensure superior stability and performance across various conditions.

Under sail, the Swan 108 is versatile, with a high-performance rig and twin rudder system for smooth handling in both challenging and calm conditions. Its balanced design ensures efficiency and speed, making it ideal for cruising or competition.

Inside, the Swan 108 is nothing short of a floating palace. The spacious saloon and dining areas are designed for both relaxation and entertaining, with large windows offering panoramic views of the sea and an abundance of natural light.

The owner’s suite is a standout feature, located amidships for optimal stability, with expansive floor space and the finest materials creating an atmosphere of tranquility and comfort. The yacht can accommodate up to eight guests in four luxurious staterooms, each with ensuite facilities, ensuring maximum privacy and comfort for everyone aboard.

Swan 128

Currently under construction, the Swan 128 will be the crowning jewel of Nautor Swan’s Maxi range. As the largest yacht in the lineup, it is set to become the ultimate expression of Swan’s design and engineering capabilities. This flagship will combine the brand’s storied heritage with state-of-the-art technology, offering expansive living areas, exceptional seakeeping, and unrivalled customisation options.

The model was first introduced at the Monaco Yacht Show 2022 and will be the second largest Swan in the history of the Finnish shipyard, since the launch of the Swan 131 Aristarchos in 2006.

Upon entering through the cockpit, guests are welcomed by a semi-raised saloon, which benefits from three levels of natural light. This saloon is connected to a flexible television lounge, which can be reconfigured into a dining saloon for up to 10 guests. The foreship is entirely dedicated to the owner’s quarters, offering ample customisation possibilities, allowing owners to tailor the layout to their personal tastes.

The Swan 128 is built to perform. A double rudder blade system ensures optimal control, even at high speeds, and delivers exceptional responsiveness, offering a seamless sailing experience with fingertip precision.

The yacht’s generous sail plan, totalling 715.6 square metres, includes a mainsail, jib, solent jib, A0, and A2 spinnakers. This configuration enables the Swan 128 to achieve impressive performance, even in light winds, while maintaining comfort with a controlled heel of around 20 degrees. The yacht’s hydrodynamics ensure both speed and stability, embodying the brand’s commitment to excellence.

The Swan 128 is currently in the advanced stages of construction, with the first hull set to debut soon. A second unit in the series is already under construction, reflecting strong demand and the yacht’s appeal within the luxury sailing community.

Nautor Swan’s Maxi range is more than just size—it is a commitment to elevating the yachting experience. From the compact versatility of the Swan 88 to the groundbreaking ambition of the Swan 128, the Maxi range delivers on every front for sailors who demand the best.
