The first exhibition supported by Sanlorenzo as Institutional Patron of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection will be “Migrating Objects: Art from Africa, Oceania and the Americas in the Peggy Guggenheim Collection,” open to the public from 15 February to 14 June 2020. The show examines a crucial though little-known phase in the career of the patron and collector Peggy Guggenheim: her interest in the 1950s and 1960s in the arts of African, Oceania and the Americas. In that period Peggy Guggenheim acquired works by artists from different cultures around the world, including sculptures from the early 1900s from Mali, Ivory Coast and New Guinea, as well as works from ancient cultures of Mexico and Peru. Migrating Objects: Art from Africa, Oceania and the Americas in the Peggy Guggenheim Collection presents these works, together with European pieces from the collection.
