At the 2024 Cannes Yachting Festival, Sanlorenzo introduced two new models that highlight the shipyard’s continued pursuit of innovation, elegance, and sustainability: the SL86A and SP92. These new launches reflect Sanlorenzo’s philosophy of fusing cutting-edge design with practical yet luxurious solutions, meeting the demands of modern yacht owners.
SL86A: The Evolution of the Asymmetric Design in a Compact Size
The SL86A, the latest addition to Sanlorenzo’s acclaimed Asymmetric range, represents a leap forward in yacht design, applying the principles of asymmetry to a more compact 86-foot vessel. Developed in collaboration with Studio Zuccon International Project, this new model aims to create an innovative living environment that maximises internal and external spaces, allowing for a deeper connection with the sea.
The SL86A features the signature asymmetrical layout that Sanlorenzo introduced in 2018 with the SL120A, eliminating one of the two external walkways. The result is an expanded main deck with a broad open layout, blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor spaces. The starboard walkway remains open, while the port side extends into the interior, enhancing the living space and creating unobstructed ocean views.
One of the standout design elements is the yacht’s minimalist stern configuration. The absence of visible stairs opens the stern area, creating a visual connection between the cockpit and the sea. A hidden staircase rotates into view when needed, and the spacious garage provides ample room for a tender and Jet Ski, with easy access via a lowering hatch that doubles as a swimming platform.
Inside, the main deck has a spacious aft living area, flowing into a forward dining area that can be customised for various uses. The layout is designed to minimise visual barriers, creating a “loft effect” that enhances the yacht’s open and luxurious feel. Large windows run from bow to stern, offering panoramic views and filling the interior with natural light.
Natural, untreated materials such as wood, marble, and linen are used throughout the SL86A’s interior to create a warm, sustainable, and eco-friendly atmosphere. With its innovative asymmetry and sustainable design, the SL86A sets a new benchmark for compact yachts, offering a level of comfort and elegance typically reserved for much larger vessels.
SP92: The Next Generation of Smart Performance
Two years after the successful launch of the SP110, Sanlorenzo returned to Cannes with the new SP92, the second model in its Smart Performance range. This entry-level model embodies its predecessor’s sleek, minimalist design but in a more compact package, offering high performance, efficiency, and livability without compromise.
Designed in collaboration with Studio Zuccon International Project for the exterior and Piero Lissoni for the interior, the SP92 delivers impressive speed and power with 4,000 horsepower and waterjet propulsion, while also embracing sustainability. One of the yacht’s key features is its highly efficient hull design, optimised to reduce resistance and fuel consumption while providing exceptional performance in rough seas.
The SP92‘s standout feature is its 45-square-metre beach area aft, which offers a closer connection to the water and the marine environment. The customisable beach area includes a retractable door that conceals a garage capable of storing a 3.95-metre tender. Sanlorenzo has also incorporated solar panels into the yacht’s superstructure, maximising energy efficiency without compromising the sleek design. The panels help power onboard systems while the yacht is anchored, reducing reliance on traditional energy sources.
Inside, the SP92 spans four decks, each designed to maximise space and create a seamless connection between the interior and the sea. The yacht’s living area features large perimeter windows with laminated glass, which protects from UV rays and eliminates visual barriers, enhancing the sense of openness. The SP92’s layout includes a spacious lounge, a fully equipped kitchen, an owner’s cabin with a full-beam layout and two guest cabins, each with en-suite bathrooms.
One of the most innovative aspects of the SP92 is its use of waterjet propulsion, which provides greater autonomy, minimises vibrations, and allows the yacht to operate in shallow waters. This propulsion system, combined with dynamic trim adjusters, ensures smooth cruising even in rough sea conditions.
Sustainability is a central feature of the SP92, with Sanlorenzo employing new composite materials and energy-efficient technologies to minimise the yacht’s environmental footprint. The lightweight construction, advanced hull design, and energy-saving systems allow the SP92 to consume up to 13 percent less fuel than conventional yachts of similar size.
A New Standard For Luxury Yachts
Both the SL86A and SP92 represent a significant evolution in Sanlorenzo’s portfolio, combining the brand’s signature elegance with cutting-edge technology and a commitment to sustainability. With their innovative designs and attention to detail, these new models set a new standard for luxury yachting, offering owners the best of both worlds: high performance and unparalleled comfort.
As Sanlorenzo continues to push the boundaries of yacht design, these models highlight the brand’s commitment to innovation, luxury, and environmental responsibility, positioning the company as a leader in the global yachting industry.
