Sanlorenzo Presents The World of BLU at Milan Design Week

Sanlorenzo debuted an installation at Milan Design Week 2024 titled “SUB.” Held as part of the INTERNI CROSS VISION exhibition-event at the University of Milan’s historic courtyard, “SUB” is a visionary creation. Curated by architect Piero Lissoni, Sanlorenzo’s Art Director, the installation offered a glimpse into the underwater world, symbolising Sanlorenzo’s unwavering commitment to marine sustainability and conservation.

“SUB” invites visitors on an immersive journey beneath the ocean’s surface, where sunlight dances through the water, illuminating a vibrant array of marine life. Through this display, Sanlorenzo underscored the importance of adopting sustainable practices to preserve the delicate balance of our oceans.

At the heart of the installation is the revolutionary BGH-HSV (Hydrogen Support Vessel) model by Bluegame, a Sanlorenzo brand. This groundbreaking vessel, showcased in a digital reconstruction during navigation moments, epitomises technological innovation and environmental stewardship. With hydrogen-powered foils and exceptional speed capabilities, the BGH-HSV sets a new standard for sustainable marine transportation.

Carla Demaria, CEO of Bluegame, shares her enthusiasm for the BGH-HSV project, emphasising its role in advancing maritime sustainability: “The use of hydrogen as a propulsion system is a tangible sign of our commitment to reducing emissions and embracing innovative solutions for a more sustainable future”.

The “SUB” installation is thought-provoking and invites reflection on humanity’s relationship with the environment. By blending digital technologies with underwater imagery, Sanlorenzo encourages visitors to consider the interconnectedness of marine ecosystems and the importance of conservation efforts.

Piero Lissoni expresses his vision for “SUB,” describing it as a slice of the sea brought to life within the university courtyard. “Amidst this virtual sea, the silhouette of the new Bluegame vessel can be seen,” says Lissoni, highlighting the seamless integration of art, technology, and sustainability.

The “SUB” installation captivated audiences throughout Milan Design Week, from 19 to 28 April, inviting guests to explore the beauty and fragility of our oceans while embracing the promise of a more sustainable future.
