Simpson Marine is proud to extend its support to the Hong Kong Ballet for the 2024/25 season, marking the third consecutive year of collaboration. This partnership not only enriches the cultural experience Simpson Marine provides to clients but also supports the Hong Kong Ballet’s mission to make ballet and art accessible to all.
The event welcomed clients, Simpson Marine’s brand partners, and prestigious guests from the world of art in Hong Kong. Guests were invited into the practice studio of the Hong Kong Ballet to get an exclusive glimpse of some of the iconic scenes from the performance. Hong Kong Ballet’s Executive Director, Heidi Lee, the choreographer of Frida, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, Hong Kong Ballet’s Ballet Master, Luis Torres, and various lead dancers guided guests through the rehearsal.
The Asian premiere of “Frida” was a captivating ballet that brought the life and legacy of the iconic artist Frida Kahlo to the stage. The rehearsal studio was abuzz with energy and dedication as dancers perfected intricate movements under the expert guidance of renowned choreographer Annabelle Lopez Ochoa. The choreography vividly portrayed Frida Kahlo’s passionate relationships, personal struggles, and artistic triumphs.
Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, known for her work on “Coco Chanel: The Life of a Fashion Icon,” crafted a visually stunning production that captured the essence of Frida Kahlo’s world. The ballet featured an original score by Peter Salem, which incorporated elements of mariachi, flamenco, and jazz, creating a rich and evocative musical landscape.
Simpson Marine’s guests had the opportunity to enjoy the performance after understanding the show from the masterminds behind it, giving the experience a whole new layer of meaning.
“Frida” will be performed at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts from 4th- 6th April 2025. The limited run of five shows is expected to be a success. For more information on Simpson Marine’s art and cultural collaborations, please contact us at [email protected].
