On a beautiful, and very windy, day – Saturday 17 October – we took part in the Four Bays Race run by the Hong Kong Cruiser Owners Association (COA). The race saw 12 yachts racing, including four Beneteau yachts. One of these saw the Simpson Marine Beneteau APAC team racing together on the Oceanis 46.1 Freedom, belonging to a very special owner…Mike Simpson himself! This was a nice racing experience for the team who took second place in the HKPN B category!
Starting at Shek O Rock, the race course consisted of Four Bays stopovers in Stanley Beach, Blake Pier, Repulse Bay and Deep Water Bay. Each stop consisted of two crew members swimming or kayaking to a “host venue” and having a welcome drink before continuing onto the next stop.
Simpson Marine provided two Host Yachts to welcome crews for drinks, with the Lagoon 50 in Repulse Bay and finishing off with the fleet highlight Sanlorenzo SX76 welcoming participants for a celebratory glass of bubbly.
We enjoyed spending this beautiful day at sea cruising round the most picturesque bay of the Southern Side of Hong Kong Island. Well done to all the teams and to COA for putting this on. We are looking to the next sailing events, as usual strongly supported by Beneteau.
