Following on from our support of the Splash Foundation’s 2017 360Swim around Hong Kong Island, which saw swimmer Simon Holliday complete this impressive feat, we were delighted to support the event once again in 2018. The Splash Foundation is a wonderful charity that raises funds to provide swimming classes for unprivileged children and domestic helpers of Hong Kong.
This year Edie Hu, a Hong Kong-based female swimmer, completed the swim in an incredible time of 12 hours 37 minutes. Edie was heavily supported by a dedicated SPLASH team of organisers, supporting swimmers, paddlers, boaters, feeders and the Splashers themselves waiting for Edie at the finish line in the Sai Wan Swimming Shed where a celebratory welcome took place with a crowd of friends and supporters.
Simpson Marine provided fund support and also the use of a Lagoon 39 as the Guest Yacht that assisted Edie for the most of her swim and hosted various groups of friends watching her challenging swim throughout the day. In addition, David Walder and Tom Allen from our Hong Kong broker team were on duty running the service tender, which dropped off the supporting swimmers who assisted Edie throughout the event.
This amazing event raised more than 675,000 HKD for the Foundation, which will allow 335 people to access free swim classes next year.
Help us to support SPLASH next year, and enjoy this short community video clip I LOVE HONG KONG that we also contributed to the creation of, in support of Edie’s swim.
