In late 2018, BENETEAU completed the renewal of the First range, with the launch of four small sport boats. This year at the Cannes Yachting Festival the brand launched the first First Yacht: 53 feet of sheer audacity and performance, perfectly in keeping with the new brand signature ‘Avant-garde in boating’. With 24,000 boats produced in nearly 40 years, some of which were real ‘winners’ an the recipients of some of the top international awards, BENETEAU is reinventing the legendary First range with a beautiful yacht, matching the desires of new customers who enjoy luxury high-performance yachting.
BISCONTINI ON THE HULL
Roberto Biscontini’s thirty years of America’s Cup experience has given the First Yacht 53 a perfectly balanced hull under sail with extremely promising performance. Over twenty drawings and simulations were used to position the centre of buoyancy accurately, to achieve the desired result.
ARGENTO FOR THE DESIGN
The deck plan and interior of the First Yacht 53 were the object of Lorenzo Argento’s sharp sense of detail. She is graced with the minimalist features of modern yachting: low coachroof, broad open stern, clean cockpit. The new First Yacht complements the distinctive style and the racing spirit of its owner.
Beyond her silhouette, stylishness and speed, a few details offer a good idea of what she holds in store. The Yacht has a tender garage, carbon rigging, lots of large spaces inside, with a real lounge area, teak mouldings and top quality materials, all of which will make her a boat to rival those of other yacht enthusiasts.
Performance: Slender hull, high end deck fittings, T-bulb, rigorous weight study and the list goes on. Everything on this yacht has been designed to make the First Yacht 53 a fast spirited boat that is equally enjoayble on long distances as it is on a technically difficult course. She gracefully cuts through the water thanks to a straight hull. The Twin rudders guarantee perfect hull control. Carefully selected deck gear with Harken Performa winches, racing boom, Harken Black Magic air blocks, for quick accurate sail control, making the best of the sail plan’s potential and the hull’s excellent sea-keeping. Textile backstay Rod rigging carbon mast version for the highly demanding sailors. Choice of 2 T keels one of which with a 3m ballast with lead bulb on option to improve sail stiffness thanks to a lower centre of gravity.
A Decidedly Different Interior: The living spaces have been redesigned for new lifestyles. Relaxation and comfort guaranteed in a modern style combining timeless white lacquered wood with the classic beauty of teak. Huge Italian-Design-inspired sofa along with an occasional table with a large drinks drawer. Cosy saloon with facing seats for 4 people and extending to 6. Large spacious economically-designed galley with high end equipment and a lot of storage. Voluminous owner cabin with carefully selected fittings: large port shower with teak seat, port head, large backlit hanging lockers, chest of drawers and island bed.
