Winner of the “most avant-garde yacht” at Cannes Yachting Festival 2019, the inspirational BGX70 is a real head-turner. Demonstrating Bluegame’s unconventional design approach, the BGX70 offers an owner-centric, customisable vessel built using the brand’s sustainable philosophy and delivering top Sanlorenzo quality. At 21.86m (71’7”), the seaworthy BGX70 sleeps six plus two crew, and reaches high speeds of 30kn.
Bluegame’s revolutionary BGX line is the result of a prestigious collaboration between Luca Santella, head of the Design & Style of the Sanlorenzo Group and Head of the Bluegame product strategy, together with Zuccon International Project design studio, which is responsible for multi-award-winning Sanlorenzo yachts.
Innovation, a common driver of the Group’s DNA, can be seen throughout numerous aspects of the BX70’s design. These include the unique and sophisticated external design, and the model’s original layout – never seen before in a 70ft yacht – which perfectly combines form and function. In addition, the special design of the hull shape has been tailored to perform in heavy conditions.
While maintaining all Bluegame’s original key features, including large external multi-use areas, functional and safe deck operations and a high-performance hull designed by specialist naval architect Lou Codega, the BGX line has the added bonus of large enclosed liveable areas that allow the outside environment to gently “enter” the yacht. The BGX70 is equipped with an iconic reserved windshield previously found only on war ships and tug boats, in addition to a safe walk-around and very well-conceived mooring areas.
A clever layout includes the option to turn 2/3 of the interior into a private owners space – the only boat of her size on the market with this opportunity. A new approach to the engine room layout also benefits the yacht’s layout, and with one hatch there is direct access allowing easy maintenance on every piece of apparatus on board. This new approach to engine room layout and disposition enables the yacht’s innovative layout. The pilot house is another impressive feature that delivers 360° visibility and direct access from the beach area into the salon and owner’s cabin, with its forward position making it the most comfortable area on the yacht. The BGX70 is truly a yacht to enjoy life at sea in complete safety, comfort and style.
All Bluegame yachts are built according to the latest and most advanced building techniques using composite materials. Sustainability is an important focus and a top priority for the Brand’s DNA, with efforts comprising of 100% recyclable moulds for selective parts, a Volvo IPS system, the refinement of hull lines, and the insulation of glass in the coach roof.
Models and moulds are machined and worked with CNC machineries to assure maximum accuracy in all measurements. The GRP stratification is made partly with the infusion method and with the vacuum bag system, using vinyl ester resins. The superstructures are made from carbon fibre to lower the centre of gravity of the boats for better performance at sea and a quieter stability at anchor.
The Volvo Penta IPS power train and transmission offers the double advantage of more space inside and the highest grade of manoeuvrability, allowing the boat to also move to the side, and with the Dynamic Positioning System (DPS) maintaining the position and heading of the boat serving as the ‘zero speed’ function.
