Penghu Regatta 2016 – Fun in Paradise

Co-founded by Simpson Marine, Penghu Regatta ran for the 3^rd time this June in the beautiful Penghu archipelago. The islands are an ideal destination for sailing thanks to the expansive cruising grounds and the consistent winds, attributes that have earned it the nickname the “British Virgin Islands of Asia”. The usual itinerary starts in Anping to Wang’an, and the Qimei islands is a stunning passage and ideal location for the race.

We have no doubt that Penghu Regatta will become a highlight of the Asian yacht racing scene with the Taiwan Tourism Bureau is giving the regatta its full support. For Simpson Marine and Beneteau, strong supporters of the regatta since the very beginning, it is extremely encouraging to see the growing interest in sailing and boating.

This year, 21 boats participated in the race divided into three categories (A, B, IRC) with Tony Chen, our Taiwan Country Sales Manager leading with the First 45 Rosy Sky. The 2016 Beneteau winners were the First 40 Poya, the First 45 Rosy Sky and the Oceanis 38 Yang Yang. Well done to all!
