Travel tips: Summer cruise in Italy – part 2

You are planning on buying your own Monte Carlo Yachts. Excellent choice, congratulations! How about enjoying the Mediterranean first before heading to Asia?

The MCY team regularly assist guests with personalized cruising itineraries and have prepared something for us too – a tailored cruise of discovery along the beautiful Italian coast.

Last month we reviewed a 10-day cruise alongside Italian East Coast and now we have a cruise to Croatia and Montenegro ready for you.

This time we start in Venice and head directly to Umag, the first coastal city in Croatia, for cross border formalities. From there you head to Pula, a beautiful Croatian town known for its smooth seas, unspoiled nature and beautiful Roman architecture. It is famous for winemaking so get ready for some tastings. A few hours cruising away lays Zadar on the Adriatic coast with its stunning Roman architecture including highlights such as the Forum and the fortifications. From Zadar you’ll head further East to Sibenik, home to superb Krka Waterfalls within the National Park and again with charming local architecture. From there you’ll move towards Split, one of the oldest cities in the country with a pleasant old town and a lovely beachside promenade. Split is close to some stunning islands just off the coast, all worth to visit for a nature walk or refreshing swim. From Split is a short cruise to Dubrovnik, a jewel of the Adriatic with its fortified town center full of stone streets, alleyways, churches, old houses and charming cafés. In 1979 the town was listed as World Heritage Site by UNESCO. From there another short scenic cruise and you’ll arrive at your final destination, the breathtaking Bay of Kotor in Montenegro, where you’d want to stay longer to explore Kotor town, Tivat and some scenic anchorages for watersports and sunset watching. Tivat airport is where you will take your flight back home, after a drop off in the trendy Porto Montenegro marina.
