Penghu Regatta 2018: More Teams; More Fun; More Excitement!

As the largest sailing event in Taiwan, the Penghu Regatta 2018 saw an incredible 41 boats take part in the sixth edition, held June 15 -24 2018. Simpson Marine and Beneteau were proud to return as major event partners, and we were pleased to see seven Beneteau sailing boats and four Lagoons attending and dominating the race.

Teams were divided into six classes including IRC, Beneteau Oceanis 38.1 and Catamarans. The weather was a mix of rain and sun, which made the competition more challenging and the event saw two days in-port racing and a one-day round the island race, with the Beneteau First 40 (POYA), sailed by the Shanghai Team, crowned the champion. Tony Chen, country manager of Simpson Marine, joined the team of First 45 (ROSY SKY) taking 2nd place in the IRC division, and the Lagoon 380 (OCEAN CONCERTO) was named champion in the catamaran division too. A fantastic result all round! The Penghu Regatta has grown to be a big event after six years of development, and we are delighted to have been a long term partner of it and to witness its growth. The regatta is a great chance to sample all the waters of Taiwan have to offer and we welcome anyone interested in taking part.
