Thailand Yacht Show

15- 18 Dec 2016

Save the date for a bigger and better edition of the show

Hot on the heels of the inaugural Thailand Yacht Show (TYS) in February this year, organisers have announced that the second edition will take place 15-18 December 2016, once again at Ao Po Grand Marina, Phuket. Although the TYS has a big focus on superyachts and charter clients, it is a totally inclusive event that provides the entire marine leisure industry with a platform to help grow and develop business in Thailand and the wider region. As such, it is seen as a key driving tool for the continuing campaign to enable foreign superyachts to come and charter in Thailand, as backed and promoted by the Government.

A strategic timing for the dates of the Second edition of the Show

“This timing was the original plan. It puts the Show at the beginning, rather than in the middle of, the international winter charter season” said Andy Treadwell, MD of organisers 3L Events. “We also wanted to avoid any clash with the Phuket King’s Cup Regatta (5-10 December), one of Asia’s most prestigious yachting events. All our stakeholders, including the Government of Thailand, agree that these dates allow a good chance of attracting the Mediterranean-based charter yachts considering a visit to Asia, as well as the all-important HNWI visitors from around the region who want to come and discover the lifestyle.” Ao Po Grand Marina provides a perfect setting for the Show, being able to accommodate vessels of all sizes, including the all-important superyachts. Best of all, it gives immediate access to the spectacular cruising grounds of Phang Nga Bay, allowing exhibitors to take show visitors for sea trials.

Once again the TYS will feature an on-water display of boats of every description, from small runabouts all the way up to superyachts, and an on-land air-conditioned pavilion housing some 80 or 90 luxury and boating brands presented by exhibitors from all around the world.

Wade Pearce is the TYS show director: “The first TYS was put together in less than three months” he says. “This time we have seven months in which to prepare, and the event will be bigger and better.

We will have even more sea-trials and equipment demonstrations in the marina, and we are planning two or three ancillary events alongside the Show which will turn TYS into a major festival of yachting and boating that is not to be missed. Watch this space!”

Phuket as the perfect destination for cruising in Asia

Treadwell believes that “Phuket is a truly inspiring location: the scenery, the weather and the people all bring out the very best that is ‘Thailand’, and we want to show this off to the world of yachting – and, importantly, a new audience of wealthy Asian lifestyle-seekers. We believe that the TYS formula is the right way, and in the right place, to bring together the boating industry and new boating consumers. We look forward to welcoming everybody to what promises to be great event in December.”
