A unique yacht that never ceases to astonish, inspiring multiple design opportunities. Sanlorenzo presents the SX100, a crossover yacht where spaces and functions unite in large, open spaces closely in contact with the sea.
The new project, whose concept and exterior lines were developed by the Zuccon International Project studio while the interiors of the unit that will be presented at the Cannes Yachting Festival are custom made to a design by Piero Lissoni, blends seamlessly into the SX range by introducing further optimisation of on-board content.
“The SX100 stems from the conviction that today the boat can be thought of as a versatile platform where large spaces can be made available. In a market where demands are multiple, diversified, multicultural, a design that offers an open stern that effectively represents a blank canvas, where the owner can interpret that space according to his needs and habits, is a great opportunity.”
The first notable element of distinction from the previous models in the SX line concerns the stern area: the SX100 centralises and enhances the ample spaces, connecting the interior with the exterior. A large living area, consisting of a covered lounge saloon characterised by beautiful translucences, merges outdoors with the large equipped beach area and two spacious side terraces that open onto the sea.
The forward part of the main deck houses the owner’s cabin, the three guest cabins are located on the lower deck, in directly connected to the lounge area.
Elegance, linearity, connectivity with the sea and fluid lines. The dialogue between spaces for sharing and areas intended for the owner’s private use is accentuated, particularly on this unit, by the design of the interiors: the common areas are characterised by the presence of large mirrors that reflect, enhancing them, the light shades of the natural materials used in the project. The owner’s cabin celebrates a more intimate dimension, combining mirrors and glass details with wood in dark, enveloping tones.
Protagonists of the design are also the two internal staircases connecting the three levels on which the yacht is arranged. The first, with its sculptural character, is made of chromed metal and joins the lounge on the lower deck with that on the main deck. The second, on the other hand, which connects the main deck to the fly bridge, is in wood and disappears silently behind a decorative screen.
“The SX100 is another architectural design, an addition to the SX family with similar characteristics to its larger siblings – the stern opens up, there are interconnections between the decks – but it uses a different language. The proportions have changed, we have included some surprises, for example a staircase that becomes the heart of the whole project, a very important metal staircase, very naval in some ways but stark in others. We worked as in architecture with other very small elements, an additional staircase that becomes invisible: if you don’t go looking for it it is not there, but instead it appears if you open some screens, and then the rooms reconnect as if it were an architectural duplex.” Piero Lissoni, Art Director Sanlorenzo Yacht
The continuous exchange between interior and exterior is emphasised by the large full-height windows and the large aft cockpit on the main deck, while the large glazed windows sheltering the upper deck where the wheelhouse is located draw attention.
SX100 has a DNA consistent with the other SX models and joins the range by offering a well-balanced segment between the SX88 and SX112. In particular, it is positioned by offering the possibility of the owner’s cabin on the main deck, optimising the vertical connections, capitalising on the experience of many SX88 owners who, with their experience and expertise, have contributed in dialogue with the shipyard to functional and aesthetic solutions that are certain to be successful.
Completing the principal features are the openable side terraces that provide light inside the lounge and connection to the large beach area and a generous enclosed upper deck that, when necessary, thanks to the opening systems of the hard top, side windows and aft door, becomes a real flybridge.
Protagonist of the Cannes Yachting Festival 2023, the SX100 is a project that offers great freedom to its owner that, in continuous contact with the sea, can enhance the pleasure of sailing.
